Some of life’s sweetest friends are discovered in the most unexpected places. And…ironically, God is often found in the most unwanted circumstances. I was a senior in college when I met Kathryn Hart Flores for the first time. She sat down next to me in Accounting II – a class that, I feel convicted to confess, I only passed due to dishonesty (aka cheating). #washedbytheblood You see, the Lord created me as a right-brained human so numbers didn’t (and still don’t) come easy to me. But becoming friends with Kathryn…that came easy.
Kathryn has many incredible characteristics that I admire. She’s smart, beautiful, determined, empathetic…a work-horse with a servant’s heart, hostess with the mostest! And if there’s one thing she doesn’t like, it’s weakness. So when a devastatingly unforeseen trial doubled up on the existing trial of divorce, Kathryn had no choice but to depend on the strength of the LORD. That being said, if you’ve listened to Episode #3 of the Blood, Sweat and Tears Podcast, ‘He’s Working All Things Together For My Good’, you’ll have an appreciation for her emotional transparency.
Truth Mapping: Episode #3
While Kathryn personally found God in the most unwanted of circumstances, she has actively been the hands and feet of Jesus through her non-profit Mission Moms. A community on a mission, Kathryn and her team actively pour out their own blood, sweat and tears to serve the less fortunate in their city’s backyard. Letting their light shine before others so that others may praise their Lord in heaven. (Reference: Matthew 5:16)
The same Bible verse that’s the foundation of Kathryn’s life is the same Bible verse that’s the foundation of Mission Moms:
“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.” Proverbs 3:27
Whoa! Is that not SO. GOOD?! There’s no doubt that the Lord wants us to marinate on Proverbs 3:27! I’m sure that my eyes are going to be opened and my heart led serve after verse mapping this truth. Will you join me?! Click HERE to download the truth mapping sheets for Kathryn’s ‘go-to’ verse!
And when you’re done, don’t forget to share your truth mapping epiphanies with us on Instagram and/or Facebook! The LORD speaks to us all in different ways. What one person receives from a message isn’t necessarily what another will receive. That’s one reason Christian community is so important. So spread the Good News and tag us at @bsandtpodcast!
